The group
The HydroTech family of companies
Four related operations, one engineering standard. What began as a hydrostatic testing contractor in the Appalachian Basin now covers pressure testing, nitrogen services, concrete cooling, and the training and reference material behind all of it.
The companies exist because the work kept asking for capability the market could not supply on the day it was needed. A pressure test needs water sourcing and a place to put the water afterwards. Commissioning needs nitrogen, and nitrogen needs equipment staged near the job rather than three states away. A mass concrete pour needs cooling, and the same liquid nitrogen expertise turns out to solve it. Crews need to be taught, and teaching needs a text.
HydroTech Testing Services
Parent company. Hydrostatic pressure testing, smart pigging, and field services.
Founded in 2018 and based at Toronto, Ohio, HydroTech commissions and decommissions pipelines and infrastructure for the natural gas and hazardous liquids industry. Hydrostatic testing, in-line inspection, nitrogen services, fluids management, renewable natural gas support, specialty mechanical completion, and compliance work sit under one roof. The firm serves western Pennsylvania and the tristate area, and maintains an in-country presence in the United Arab Emirates.
NitroTech Rentals
Advanced N2 solutions: nitrogen trailers, pipeline purging, drying, and commissioning support.
NitroTech fields the nitrogen equipment and the qualified operators to run it, rather than subcontracting the most hazardous energy on a site. Purpose-built trailer systems deliver bulk nitrogen at working pressures well beyond traditional bobtail equipment, staged for the major producing basins across North America.
Concrete Cooling Rentals
Liquid nitrogen concrete cooling for mass pours and hot-weather concreting.
A NitroTech service line applying liquid nitrogen injection to control concrete placement temperature. Mass pours generate heat as the mix cures, and hot weather compounds it. Injecting liquid nitrogen into the mix brings placement temperature down to specification. The service runs on leased equipment brought to the pour, which is a different discipline from pipeline nitrogen work and is deliberately kept as its own operation.
Proper Pigging
The field book and training program for pipeline pigging and hydrostatic testing.
You are reading it. The 172-page field book was written by HydroTech field personnel and is the course text for the private certification training. Attendance is recorded as documented contact hours toward professional development, on a certificate naming the course, the date, the objectives and the instructor.
Why it is arranged this way
Keeping the capability in the group rather than in a subcontractor chain means the people who plan a test are the people who run it, the equipment is owned rather than chased, and the standard taught in the classroom is the standard worked in the field. It also means one point of contact when a project needs more than one of these things at once, which most projects do.
