HydroTech Testing Services

Integrity experts for pipelines and infrastructure. Founded in 2018 and based at Toronto, Ohio, HydroTech specialises in the commissioning and decommissioning of pipelines and infrastructure — the full scope of a project rather than a single aspect of it.

The firm serves the natural gas and hazardous liquids industry across western Pennsylvania and the tristate area, and maintains an in-country presence in the United Arab Emirates, partnering with local operators to deliver hydrostatic testing, commissioning and consulting for global energy firms. Its fluids division works through global sourcing and disposal partnerships, and the firm pioneered the use of exclusive smart-pig technology in the Northeastern United States.

Service lines

Hydrostatic testing

Strength and leak testing worked to ASME and API practice, with digital deadweights rated beyond 10,000 psi, chart recorders, stroke counting and reporting, and a full in-house inventory of launchers and receivers.

Smart pigging

In-line inspection for corrosion, cracking and metal loss. Cleaning and gauging runs first, then intelligent tools run in service so supply is not interrupted.

Nitrogen services

Purging, drying, packing and blanketing, delivered with the firm’s own pumping equipment and qualified operators.

Fluids management

Turnkey water sourcing, movement, treatment and discharge, with above-ground storage from 10,000 to 40,000 barrels and environmental compliance handled in house.

Specialty services

Mechanical completion and commissioning: engineering and project management, nitrogen leak testing, hot oil flushing, chemical cleaning, bolt tightening and flange management, pipe freezing, and vapour-phase cleaning.

Renewable natural gas

RNG project support, from collection at landfills, farms and wastewater plants through to gas refined to pipeline quality.

Compliance

Testing and records built around the gas transmission Mega Rule, material verification and maximum allowable operating pressure requirements.

Those service lines map directly onto the chapters of this book, and HydroTech field personnel developed and teach the professional certification course from which it grew. The firm’s own training system runs on site field operations, apprenticeship, testing and evaluation — the same standard it teaches to other operators.

NitroTech Rentals, a HydroTech Testing Services company, provides high-pressure nitrogen solutions for pipeline, industrial, and energy projects across North America, with equipment staged for the major producing basins. Its purpose-built trailer systems deliver bulk nitrogen at working pressures well beyond traditional bobtail equipment.
